Defenders 109 and Marvel Team-Up 119

Post by PunyBanner »

Gargoyle leaves with Spider-Man towards the end of Def 109 and there is a footnote saying to read MTU 119 to see what happens to them. Well, there is a lengthy gap in between these issues for Spider-Man, and Avengers Annual 11is placed in between these two for Gargoyle. Anybody know why? MTU 119 clearly takes place right after Def 109. I see no reason for such a gap.

The problem is this- M/TU 117-118 take place after DEF 106. There's no gap in DEF 106-109 until Gargoyle and Spider-Man leave, so M/TU 117-118 have to take place after DEF 109 (and before M/TU 119).

Do you know the specifics on why MTU 117-118 have to take place after DEF 106 (I don't have those issues to check). What about all those other issues for Spider-Man that are in between? Could you just move DEF 107-109 to right before MTU 117?
What about the gap in Gargoyle's chrono (with Avengers Annual 11)?

M/TU 117-118 take place some time after Kyle's death in DEF 106. The plot is that Professor Power needs to replace his telepaths since Kyle blew them up (in DEF 106), so he kidnaps Professor Xavier to use him to restore his son and destroy the Soviet Union.
M/TU 117-118 caused us no end of headaches. It featured the X-Mansion apparently intact (and not destroyed by the Sidri) but had to take place after M/GN 1. Eventually we decided that the mansion was *partially rebuilt*.
The really weird thing about the apparent conflict between the footnote in DEF 109 and M/TU 117-118 is that all of those issues were written by J.M. DeMatteis. Apparently he didn't realize that there wasn't a gap in his story for M/TU 117-118 to take place.

I see. I hate it when this type of stuff happens. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
