WX2 14

As shown by the generated WX2 14 some review is needed. Scalphunter has two appearances in the present, one should be a flashback. Mister Sinister has two flashbacks, they need a range. Namor appears once but it probably should be two appearances as I will demonstrate.

I'm tackling World War Two in a pincer movement. I've reviewed late '39 early '40 chronology for Namor and Human Torch, late '40 early '41 for Captain America and late '44 & 1945 for Captain America and Nick Fury.

I'm currently looking at June-December 1944. This period is recognizable by the presence of American regular troops in France.

WX2 14-FB has been indexed as occurring in one point in time, November 1944 per the chronologies involved. WX2 14-FB has a follow-up in WX2 23-FB, where Fury enters the recently liberated camp seen at the end of WX2 14-FB. WX2 23-FB is placed in March, after the start of the invasion of Germany on March 22. Just from this follow-up issue, WX2 14-FB should either occur later or span a larger amount of time from 1944 to late March 1945. Or WX2 23 should occur late November 1944.

The title Sinister's List is a play on Schindler's List.
The introductory page says it's 1944 "World War II is in full swing. The Nazis are still hammering hard and the Allies are fighting to the last." You could hardly be more vague. The hinted intensity could point to the Battle of Normandy or the Battle of the Bulge but not just those.

In the first scene (pp. 1-6) Namor attacks a U-boat with (an unnamed) Baron Strucker (with a Satan Claw) and Essex. Master Man spears Namor and Essex recovers the blood.

In the second scene (pp. 7-9) John Greycrow is about to be executed for murder. Sgt. Fury is present with (an unnamed) Sam Sawyer. Mister Sinister recruits Greycrow when he digs him out of his grave. We see some town signs, "Carendin," "Torigny," and "Lagny." Carendin does not exist but there is a Carentan in Normandy. It's 50 kms from Torigny and Carentan is close to Ste Mère l'Eglise. There is no Lagny in the region, though. There are two Lagnys in Northern France and another one 30 kms east of Paris, all three in a vertical line 100 kms long. Lagny is not consistent with the other names. Given Mister Sinister's comment that time has come to take his leave of the Third Reich, I take it that this scene is supposed to take place during the Battle of Normandy (June 6 - Aug 30, 1944).

Historical note: One Clarence Whitfield was executed on 14 August 1944 for murder or rape in Normandy. I place the first two scenes in early Aug 44.

The third scene (pp. 10-13) occurs in a station where Mister Sinister provides a Nazi official with a list of people he wants for himself. The narration "It is said Hitler made the trains run on time" implies this occurs in Germany.

The fourth and last scene (pp. 14-19) occurs in a concentration camp where Sinister conducts his experiments. The Invaders (Sub-Mariner, Human Torch, Captain America) are attacking and are faced with N2, a clone of Namor designed to overcome Namor and Human Torch but beaten by Captain America.

There is a follow-up in WX2 23-FB where Americans enter the camp and recover Sinister's material and notes on superhuman research. This connection between WX2 14 and 23 had been missed.

This is consistent with the liberation of concentration camps in western Germany by Invaders sans Bucky and in Poland with Bucky, which I reviewed earlier.

So the fourth scene of WX2 14 should be moved to WX2 23.
