Marvels 3 (1 - 3)
Avengers 22 (1 - 11:4)
Journey into Mystery 122 (9:2 - 16)
Journey into Mystery 123 (1 - 2)
Avengers 22 (11:5)
Journey into Mystery 123 (3 - 16)
Avengers 22 (11:6)
Tales of Suspense 72 (1 - 12:5)
Avengers 22 (12 - 20)
Marvels 3 (4:1 - 4:2) [Avengers Day]
Tales of Suspense 72/1 (12:6 - 12:9)
Avengers 23-25

Will that work?

PS. Just had a quick peek at the next installment. I'm gonna need more bourbon. ooOO?!
We're almost there, but the panel showing Iron Man and the Awesome Android in Avengers 22 is in the middle of your Tales of Suspense 72 (1 - 12:5) segment. How about this:

Marvels 3 (1 - 3)
Avengers 22 (1 - 11:3)
Tales of Suspense 72 (1 - 8:4)
Avengers 22 (11:4)
Tales of Suspense 72 (8:5 - 12:5)
Journey into Mystery 122 (9:2 - 16)
Journey into Mystery 123 (1 - 2)
Avengers 22 (11:5)
Journey into Mystery 123 (3 - 16)
Avengers 22 (11:6)
Avengers 22 (12 - 20)
Marvels 3 (4:1 - 4:2) [Avengers Day]
Tales of Suspense 72/1 (12:6 - 12:9)
Avengers 23-25

As for the next installment, yes there are a lot of titles involved and it is quite complex, but I'm pretty sure you'll understand its logic. And at least, there is no Marvels segment in the sequences. Also note that when I'm through with that list, I will summarize my recommendations and integrate your conclusions into a new list, as I'm doing with the previous list.

RobinHoodMtl wrote: Sun Apr 24, 2022 1:21 pmThe Namor arc for the Trident quest is clearly referenced in Fantastic Four Annual 3 (page 18) where they explain that the impulse meant for the Sub-Mariner was intercepted by Attuma instead, because Namor was too deep into the ocean doing his quest. As for the Tales to Astonish issues, I do address some of it in another post, but I can't find in-book references to support that it occurs during the wedding. I did read about it somewhere that the reason why the Hulk was not present was because he was on the Watcher's homeworld too far to be reached by Doom's impulse, but I cannot recall if this was supported by any official reference. All I can say is that it perfectly makes sense. And if the Tales to Astonish are split as I suggest in my Feb 01, 2019 12:15 am post, my assumption and proposed timeline for the Hulk in Tales to Astohish does not affect Hulk's timeline in your list where there are no other Hulk story between FF Annual 3 and the current placement of Tales to Astonish 70/2.
I've sorted the TTA issues to honor the original plotline surrounding FF@ 3, but not exactly as you have it, so that it also honors the Marvels timeline. Since we're having Phil develops pics after the events in MARVELS 3 (10:3 - 11:1), i've also moved JIM 124-T 127 back to before Untold Legend of Captain Marvel, keeping it before TTA 79/2 for Hercules, which is where i had it before.

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but there is still something odd regarding the arc with the Hulk and the Leader in Tales to Astonish 70/2-75/2. You split issue 73/2 at panel 9:2, where the Watcher shows the Hulk his collection of scientific devices, and panel 9:3, where the narrative says "Then suddenly..." and the Leader mentally contacts the Hulk to confirm that he is still with him. Yet these two segments are way too far apart in your list.

Of course, if we are to assume that the beginning of Fantastic Four Annual #3, where Doctor Doom activates his machine to affect all super-villains, should occur when the Hulk is away from Earth, we don't have the choice to find a place to split within the Tales to Astonish 73/2 (8:2) and Tales to Astonish 74/2 (9:1). We could go with the hypotheses that Doom's machine was activated while he was traveling either to or back from Uatu's world or, as you split it, while he was visiting the place with Uatu in Tales to Astonish 73/2 (9:2), But because of the short span of the arc, I would move the rest much closer to the conclusion of FF@3. It it would be more appropriate to have the end of issue 73/2 up until the beginning of issue 75/2 much closer to his journey back to Earth because in between, there is no real time gap. Then another split could be made between Tales to Astonish 75/2 (6:5) and Tales to Astonish 75/2 (7:1) where the Hulk jumps his way across the Atlantic. This way, we can leave together the Hulk's attack on the White House included in Tales to Astonish 75/2 and Marvels 3 (10:1).

Therefore, I would recommend the following:
Marvels 2 (30:4 - 32:3)
Tales to Astonish 70/2 (4:4 - 10)
Tales to Astonish 71/2-72/2
Tales to Astonish 73/2 (1 - 9:2)
Tales to Astonish 71 (6 - 12)
Tales to Astonish 72
Marvels 2 (32:4)
Fantastic Four Annual 3 (1 - 12:3)
...
Fantastic Four Annual 3 (22:3) ~ Marvel Heroes and Legends 1996 1 (45:2 - 45:4)
Tales to Astonish 73
Tales to Astonish 73/2 (9:3 - 10)
Tales to Astonish 74/2
Tales to Astonish 75/2 (1 - 6:5)

Fantastic Four Annual 3 (23) ~ Marvels 2 (33)
...
Marvels 3 (9:4)
Tales to Astonish 75/2 (7:1 - 7:5)
Marvels 3 (10:1)
Tales to Astonish 75/2 (7:6 - 10)
Tales to Astonish 76/2-79/2

Also, on a side note, MCP's listing for Uatu places his appearance in Reed and Sue's wedding before his interaction with the Hulk, as shown below:
Fantastic Four Annual 3 (19:5-21:4)
FFWED-FB
Tales to Astonish 73/2
Tales to Astonish 74/2
Tales to Astonish 75/2

MCP's listing for Uatu seems to contradict most of the other characters listing when it comes to the placement of Reed and Sue's wedding simply because of his appearance in TTA. And I couldn't find any official material that would justify this discrepancy.

I'm a little confused. First, you seem to contend that TTA 73/2 - 75/2 should occur after page 22 of FF@ 3; then you seem to suggest that the Uatu's placement of TTA 73/2 - 75/2 after page 21 of FF@ 3 is incorrect.

I don't see the discrepancy between the two. Or am I misreading you?

In short, what I'm suggesting is to leave the segment where the Hulk is away from Earth where it is now. but to move the end of issue 73/2 up until the beginning of issue 75/2 much closer to his journey back to Earth because in between, there is no real time gap. And a short split could be made between Tales to Astonish 75/2 (6:5) and Tales to Astonish 75/2 (7:1) where the Hulk jumps his way across the Atlantic. This would still be consistent with the Hulk's attack on the White House included in Tales to Astonish 75/2 and Marvels 3 (10:1). My whole point is to avoid too big a gap where the span of storyline does not prescribe it.

Nevermind the part I colored in green here. This was on my first draft of a suggestion which I did not post and where I thought it would be best not to split issue 73/2 to 75/2 (6:5) at all. I forgot to remove that section when I edited my post, so you can ignore that part. Sorry for the confusion. Let me know if it makes sense to you now.

Tales to Astonish 78 (7:3:2 - 8:1) ~ Avengers 26 (5:1 - 5:6)

Avengers 26 (5:7 - 20)
A couple of things I want to point out about this update. First, why is Avengers 26 (1 - 4) placed before Avengers 23-25? Looks like you may have forgotten to move it somehow.

Second, Marvels 3 (5) takes place right after Strange Tales 145.

Third, there is something wrong here the Batroc/SHIELD/Inferno 42 sequence. Tales of Suspense 75/2-76/2 is rather continuous story, except the Tales of Suspense 75/2 (1-3) part that includes Cap's rescue by the boat crew right after he blew up the Sleepers. That segment also tells how Hydra decides to hire Batroc after they realize that SHIELD has stolen the Inferno 42 from them. Then between Cap's rescue on page 3 and him resting at home on page 4, one day has passed (as told by panel 4:1 narrative). Now in Strange Tales 142 (6:1), Fury states that he has not yet received Inferno 42 and orders to be notified if Batroc shows up. This implies that A) Agent 13 is most likely in possession of Inferno 42 because they know Batroc's already involved, and B) unless they have an inside man in Hydra, there is no way they should have learned about Batroc before he attacked Agent 13. I could be wrong about item B, but there is nothing in the story that supports that SHIELD had an inside man in Hydra or that another SHIELD has seen Batroc attacking Agent 13 and reported it, so I guess we should work with what is clearly established.

We can easily assume that Fury's communication was made after Agent 13 has escaped Batroc at the end of ToS 75/2. She may have reached SHIELD to report her encounter with Batroc when she was inside SHIELD secret shelter. That is also the only occasion where she and someone else from SHIELD could have made the switch before Batroc got away with the dummy cylinder. So Strange Tales 142-143 has to take place somewhere after ToS 76/2 (3:1) where she is inside the shelter. I can also guess that the SHIELD agent who made the last switch would have informed Fury that SHIELD was back in possession of Inferno 13 since they made the switch inside SHIELD secret shelter. Since Fury's adventure with Mentallo and the Fixer is quite non-stop, I would suggest reordering the above sequence as follows:

Avengers 23-25
Amazing Spider-Man 657 (3 - 9)-FB
Tales of Suspense 79/2-FB
Tales of Suspense 72/2-74/2 [Cap defeats the Sleepers]
Tales of Suspense 75/2-76/2 (1 - 3:1) [Cap is rescued then meets Agent 13 and Batroc - Agent 13 escapes]
Strange Tales 142 [Fury hears about Inferno 42 and Batroc, then is captured by Mentallo and Fixer]
Tales of Suspense 76/2 (3:2 - 10) [Cap defeats Batroc -SHIELD recovers Inferno 42]
Strange Tales 143 [Fury SHIELD defeats Mentallo and Fixer]

Tales of Suspense 73 (1 - 11)
Tales of Suspense 73 (12) ~ Avengers 48 (11)-FB
Marvels 3 (4:3 - 4:5)
Tales of Suspense 74-76
Avengers Spotlight 22/2 [History of the Swordsman]
Avengers 48 (12:1 - 12:2)-FB
Strange Tales 144-145 [SHIELD vs The Druid]
Marvels 3 (5) [SHIELD operation vs the Druid's eggs hit the News]

Amazing Spider-Man 29-33 [Peter begins classes at ESU][September]
Tales to Astonish 76 (6 - 12) [Namor crowned Sovereign of Atlantis]
Tales to Astonish 77
Tales to Astonish 78 (1 - 7:3:1)
Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prowl 1 (1 - 3)
Avengers 26 (1 - 4) [no apparent reason to place it before Avengers 23]
Tales to Astonish 78 (7:3:2 - 8:1) ~ Avengers 26 (5:1 - 5:6)[/color][/b]
Avengers 26 (5:7 - 20)

So unless I missed something, this sequence respects both Avengers and Iron Man Official Indices as well as MCP's suggested timelines for Iron Man, Captain America and Nick Fury, while maintaining the integrity of Marvels 3 and the overall storylines of the arcs.

Possibly. What i missed was moving A 23-25 to before where i placed A 26 (1 - 4). Cap calls in Wanda, Pietro and Hawkeye to explain how to operate the newly installed tamper-proof messaging system, the Visi-Projector, which Tony Stark installed that morning. This must take place prior to the sequence that leads to Tony being abducted by the Mandarin. This requires a split in A 26 between pages 4 & 5, which will affect their individual character chronologies.

Also as per Hydra, Nick Fury, Captain America & Tony Stark in 1965, Marvels 3 (5) has to take place after Marvels 3 (4:3 - 4:5), in which Senator Byrd publicly demands to know Iron Man’s identity, and issues a subpoena for Tony Stark to appear before his Investigative Committee, which takes place after TOS 73, where he threatens to return with a subpoena. TOS 73 is part of the unbroken sequence that leads to Stark's abduction by the Mandarin, and must happen after Tony helps out SHIELD in ST 142-145.

This section works for me..

So this is what we end up with for this section..

---
Marvels 3 (4:1 - 4:2) [Avengers Day]
Avengers 23-25 [Mid-Late August]
Hawkeye: Blindspot 2 (12 - 13)-FB
Avengers 26 (1 - 4)
Tales of Suspense 72 (12:6 - 12:9)
Tales of Suspense 79/2-FB

Tales of Suspense 76/2 (1 - 3:1)
Strange Tales 142
Tales of Suspense 76/2 (3:2 - 10)
Strange Tales 143-145 [SHIELD vs The Druid]

Tales of Suspense 73 (1 - 11)

I have no problem placing A 26 (1 - 4) prior to Tony's abduction by the Mandarin. The gap between pages 4 and 5 is relatively undetermined and all the issues between them in your list occur over a relatively short time. My main issue here was the placement of A 26 (1 - 4) before A 23.
I did place Marvels 3 (5) after Marvels 3 (4:3 - 4:5) in my list. What I moved was Strange Tales 144-145 closer to Marvels 3 (5). But guess we could move ST 143 after ToS 73 and right before ST 144-145 since ToS 73 spans over a very short time. So I supposer ST 143-145 works for me. And since Marvels (5) is a news report, it can be broadcast any time after ST 145 so I think your update makes sense as well.

According to MCP and to Doctor Strange's timeline in Official Indes for Spider-Man, Spider-Man Annual 2 and Fantastic Four Annual 3 occur between Strange Tales 144/2 and 145/2. Since there is no more than a few days gap between those two, I would move the ST 130/2-144/2 much closer to ASM Annual 2. I don't think there would be any conflict listing them as follows:

X-Men 11-13

I did not check if the March reference is mentioned in ST 145/2, but nevertheless, this move should probably takes the ST 130/2-146/2 sequence a year later than your placement so the month reference, if any, is still plausible.

I'm going to have to disagree with the Spider-Man Index and the MCP character listings here, as Spider-Man Annual 2 and Fantastic Four Annual 3 have been injudiciously placed between Strange Tales 144/2 and 145/2. ST 132/2 takes place on a bleak rain-swept evening, and ST 145/2 takes place on a crisp day in March. JIM 115 is in the Summer, and A 22 is in August, therefore Spider-Man Annual 2 and Fantastic Four Annual 3 occur during the Summer. There is nothing preventing these markers from being adhered to.

Also, the MCP currently lists AF 6/2 between ST 146/2 & 147/2 for Dr Strange and Wong, but it's specifically set during the Winter, and should be placed between ST 144/2 & ST 145/2, while ASM@ 2 & FF@ 3 belong in the long gap between ST 146/2 & ST 147/2.

OK. Good points. Also, it is also good that you placed The Last Days of Magic segments when they really belong in relation to the ST sequence. I was about to mention it as well.
