Thanks! I'm THIS CLOSE to getting back into this. Maybe this is the nudge I need!

Everyone's thoughts are welcome. Clive's been pounding away at the X-side of things, but that's more current than this.

Yay!

Here's what I've got for this period on the X side of things (repeating and occasionally tweaking stuff from earlier threads, sorry for the repetition).

Note that the big stumbling block, X-wise, is Guardians of the Galaxy. GOTG6 13-18 are intensely knit together with the X-books via The Last Annihilation, which is immediately (like, a day) after the Hellfire Gala. GOTG6 15 (1-17) takes place the day before the Gala, and Moondragon is noted as working on "this Korvac business" (with a footnote to Iron Man #8... which is really going to have to be at some other point altogether, unless Tony sent an LMD to the Gala or something).

And in GOTG6 10--the King in Black tie-in issue--there's a line of dialogue to the effect that Knull has been reported by "that new SWORD station" to be on Earth, and then "three months" pass before the last couple of pages of GOTG6 12. Ignore that dialogue ("oh, sorry, it was a bunch of ice giants with swords, my bad"), assume that Knull's forces are just making a slow journey across the galaxy to get to Earth (so GotG's KiB tie-in happens quite a while before the event itself), and the timing of everything else still works for the X-titles...

*****

Empyre: X-Men 1-4
X-Men 11 (shortly after Empyre: X-Men)

[there can be a break of whatever length we like here]
X-Men/Fantastic Four 1-4 (must be after Empyre because the Thing's arm is not in a cast) [EDITED TO ADD: nope, see below]
[there can also be a break of whatever length we like here]

X-Factor 1-3 (a little while before XoS, but must be a while after Excalibur #7-9 because of Amazing Baby)
Children of the Atom 1-3 (Dazzler's playing in NYC; has to be relatively soon before #4-6, but after X of Swords starts placement gets complicated)
Curse of the Man-Thing: X-Men 1 (this one and the other two parts fit here fine, X-wise, in terms of publication order, but could also move around anywhere before X-Force 21)
Hellions 1-4 (very shortly before XoS, since Empath is resurrected two days before most of #5)
Excalibur 10-12 (all of these are shortly pre-X of Swords)
X-Force 11-12 (X of Swords-related stuff is already happening)

X OF SWORDS
X-Men 12
X of Swords: Creation 1
X-Factor 4
Wolverine 6
X-Force 13
Marauders 13
Hellions 5
New Mutants 13
Cable 5
Excalibur 13
X-Men 13
X of Swords: Stasis 1
X-Men 14
Marauders 14-15
Excalibur 14
Wolverine 7
X-Force 14
Hellions 6
Cable 6
Excalibur 15
X-Men 15
X of Swords: Destruction 1

[Then we start the clock toward the Hellfire Gala; if XoS ends on Day 0, King in Black starts late on day 6 and ends early on day 8.]

DAY 0:
[EDITED TO ADD:] CABLE 7 (1-2): Cable and Rachel at sunset, the day that X of Swords ends.

DAY 1:

EXCALIBUR 16 (1-19): A full day on Krakoa, right after XoS.
X-MEN 16 (1-17): Cyclops, Cable, Rachel. Arakko transported through the External Gate. Then Cypher and Krakoa, then a Quiet Council meeting.
CABLE 7 (3-14): Cable and Rachel: Philadelphia daytime, Bucks County that night.
MARAUDERS 16 (1): Storm and Bishop meet at sunset.
WOLVERINE 8/1: One evening.

DAY 2:

EXCALIBUR 16 (20): The morning after the earlier part of the issue, in extradimensional England.
EXCALIBUR 17: Pete Wisdom and Coven Akkaba in London, morning; then Krakoa, then that night at the lighthouse.
X-MEN 16 (18-20): Scott, Jean, Magneto, Xavier in the Council chamber. Daytime.
X-FORCE 15-16: One day. Sea-monsters. Logan and Namor present.
CABLE 7 (15-20): Cable, Rachel, Scott, Jean the day after the previous scenes, in Krakoa before dinner.
CABLE 8: Cable and Domino, the same night.
MARAUDERS 16 (2-18): Confrontation at Hellfire Bay in the evening. Emma present, Shaw maimed.
WOLVERINE 8/2 (1-17): Logan, Scout, Omega Red, Daken, Sage, Beast. Krakoa, then Los Angeles.

DAY 3:

MARAUDERS 16 (19-20): Council meeting in the morning. Sinister present.
X-MEN 17: Krakoa, then Chandilar. Scott and Jean occupied for the day, pretty much.
X-FACTOR 5 (1-3): The Five are ready to do resurrections again but haven't started yet.
X-FORCE 17 (1-6): Quentin Quire gets himself killed.
SWORD 1: One day. Cable and Magneto present.
WOLVERINE 8/2 (28-30): Krakoa, then Madripoor; Logan as Patch.
X-MEN 18 and 19 (1-18): Mostly flashbacks, and then Laura and Synch escape from the Vault.
Also today: Ego turns black (GOTG6 13-14).

DAY 4:

X-MEN 19 (19-20): Laura and Synch resurrected.
X-FORCE 17 (7-20): Quentin Quire resurrected.
HELLIONS 7 (1-3): Hellions resurrected.
EXCALIBUR 18 (1-5): Krakoa, "two days" after #17.
X-FACTOR 5 (4-20): Arbor Magna Hatchery, the day after the previous scene. Rachel present. Sofia resurrected. Then, that night, Dani and Emma; then Siryn dies.
HELLIONS 7 (4-10): The White Palace at sunset, then Bar Sinister.
MARAUDERS 17 (after the FB, so 4-17)--Krakoa, then Mykines, then Madripoor, then Krakoa, where Crucible happens that night.
CABLE 9: Cable on Krakoa, daytime; then with Logan who is, sure enough, in Madripoor; then back on Krakoa. One day.
X-FORCE 18 (1-7): Night. Logan pops in to the Summer House briefly, but he's got some unfinished vampire business.

DAY 5:

MARAUDERS 17 (18-20): Callisto resurrected; then Kate delivers an invitation to Verendi.
HELLIONS 7 (11-20): Hellions in Arizona.
HELLIONS 8: The same day.
X-MEN 20 (6-17, since pp. 1-5 are a FB to "several weeks" earlier, pre-XoS): Mystique's mission.
WOLVERINE 9 and 10 (1-13): Madripoor, a "few days" after Logan arrives.
X-FORCE 18 (8-20): Krakoa, the day after the previous scene. Sage kills Beast.
X-FORCE 19: Same day, apparently, stretching to night. Logan's not responding to hails (because he's in Madripoor, perhaps).
EXCALIBUR 18 (6-10): Krakoa, the day after the previous scene in the issue.

DAY 6:

(Beast and Siryn most likely resurrected here.)
X-MEN 20 (18-20): Mystique resurrected. Xavier and Magneto put a plan in motion and go see Moira.
HELLIONS 9-10: Krakoa, then the fake mission, not long after #8. Kwannon present & can't appear elsewhere for a "week."
King in Black begins. Xavier, Cyclops, Storm, Cable, Marvel Girl, Logan, Nightcrawler, Magneto all involved.

DAY 7:

SWORD 2-4: One day, during King in Black. Sunfire, Magneto, possessed Cable present.
KING IN BLACK: MARAUDERS 1: Kate Pryde, Sage, Emma Frost, Magneto, Cyclops, Storm all involved. One day.

DAY 8:
King in Black ends at dawn.
WOLVERINE 10 (14-16): Logan and Maverick, outside Houston.

Yay!
Come on Fury! You've been saying that for two years now! :-P

And yes, everyone needs to chip in - let's get this ball rolling!

I've been following Reston's rolling post-Inferno topic with each new instalment. And thanks to Clive for providing the X-notes above. I'd forgotten about X-Men/Fantastic Four, but i've added it to the list of still to be placed issues.

Here's something Clive wrote elsewhere concerning these issues, which is relevant here..
Clive_Reston wrote: Wed Sep 30, 2020 7:10 pm FF6 24 strongly suggests that X/FF2 takes place between Empyre and that issue; Franklin is now spending a bunch of time hanging out on Krakoa! (And the FF don't appear to have changed their costumes yet.)

Fun fact: besides Ben's right arm (and thus his cast, if he were wearing it) not appearing in the first three issues of X/FF2 at all, nowhere in the miniseries do we see Kate Pryde's knuckles...
Regarding Guardians of the Galaxy..

I'm pretty sure that X-Men/Fantastic Four 1-4 belongs in War of the Realms to Empyre. I've made a case for it here.

Okay, here's an amusing placement problem: as I mentioned in the War of the Realms to Empyre thread, Giant-Size X-Men: Magneto #1 appears to take place at a time very close to Marauders #17, even though it was published six months earlier. (The former ends at sunset with Magneto showing Emma the building he's created on Mykines, and Emma noting that she's going to send out invitations; the latter includes a daytime scene where Emma is explaining the new setup to the island's caretaker.)

The Magneto one-shot takes place over two full-looking days and the night between them: Magneto visits the island, talks with the caretaker, waits until Namor shows up at night, has a little undersea adventure with him, builds Emma's building when it's daylight again, and then shows it off to her.

The question is: when does Magneto have two days in a row free? That Marauders scene is on Day 4 of my post-X of Swords timetable. On day 3, he's visiting S.W.O.R.D. He's busy with the Council on days 1 and 2. Before that, X of Swords is going on. Before that is Hellions 1-4, and he's also present with the Council at the beginning of that rather brief sequence. I suspect he has time to visit Mykines before THAT, but whew.

As for the Daredevil side of things…
Inferno and Truth/Dare collectively span roughly a week. The weather is spring-y, though issue 25 is shortly before King in Black, which is around Christmas. Daredevil's appearances in ASM 35 & 37 are before this run, right?

DD 18 (18 - 20) takes place at what looks like sunset, soon after the rest of the issue, with issues 19–20 occurring in the morning, the afternoon probably. Most of DD 21 (1 - 15) are also set that day, with Daredevil being confronted by Spider-Man between Empyre and Amazing Spider-Man: Sins Rising.

DD 21 (16 - 20) picks up the next day, with DD 22 (1 - 3) immediately after. DD 22 is set sometime between Empyre and Iron Man vol. 6.

There's a gap between pages 3 & 4 of DD 22, and then DD 23 (1:4 - 7) is set eight days before DD 24 (13 - 20) thanks to Foggy.
DD 23 (8 - 18) spans night to morning. The final two pages are at daytime, ending on a cliffhanger that DD 24 (1 - 2) resolves.

There's a five-day time jump between pages 12 & 13 of DD 24. DD 25 is set shortly after, with the flashbacks (2 - 3:1; 8:3; 9; 20:2 - 20:5) happen sometime before issue 10. It's probably a few days before King in Black.

Day 1
Sunset.

DD 18 (18 - 20): Bullet, Rhino, Stilt-Man, Crossbones, and Bullseye arrive in Hell's Kitchen. [Bullet, Rhino, Stilt-Man, Crossbones, Bullseye]
Morning.
DD 19–20: Bullet, Rhino, Stilt-Man, Crossbones, and Bullseye rampage through Hell's Kitchen. Amidst the chaos, Matt Murdock returns as Daredevil and is "helped" by Mayor Wilson Fisk. [Daredevil, Kingpin, Typhoid Mary, Bullet, Rhino, Stilt-Man, Crossbones, Bullseye, NYPD Detectives Cole North and Greene, Butch Pharris, Owl, Foggy Nelson, Joey Carraro, Ben Urich, Wesley Welch, Edmund/"Daredevil", Hector/"Daredevil", Janet/"Daredevil"]
Morning / Night
DD 21 (1 - 7): Following the apprehension of Bullet, Rhino, Stilt-Man, and the Owl, Daredevil turns himself in for the authorities for the murder of Leo Carraro. [Daredevil, Kingpin, Owl, Izzy Libris, Quinn Stromwyn, Una Stromwyn]
DD 21 (8): Foggy Nelson makes himself Daredevil's lawyer. [Ben Hochberg, NYPD Detective Cole North, Foggy Nelson]
DD 21 (9 - 15): Spider-Man confronts Daredevil about putting the costume back on. After Daredevil boasts that Spider-Man isn't his moral authority and threatens to call the cops if he doesn't leave his apartment. Spider-Man calls him a piece of work before leaving, saying he'll be back, and Nelson calls Daredevil. [Daredevil, Spider-Man, Foggy Nelson VO]

Day 2
DD 21 (16 - 20): At the courthouse, Daredevil unmasks himself to district attorney Ben Hochberg, who reacts by arresting him. [Daredevil, NYPD Detective Cole North, Foggy Nelson, Ben Hochberg, Wesley Welch]
DD 22 (1 - 3): As Daredevil is being filmed a mugshot, Foggy Nelson interrupts by saying his client shouldn't be fingerprinted because of his secret identity. Daredevil is arrested. [Daredevil, Foggy Nelson, NYPD officers]

Day 3
DD 22 (4 - 20): The NYPD, Ben Hochberg, and Mayor Fisk call a conference about Daredevil being a murderer, and the office intends to prove it. Fisk implies Outlawed as recent, as Daredevil goes to court and is given an accelerated trial. Daredevil thwarts a crime at night, and meets Iron Man there. Fisk talks with Typhoid Mary and calls Izzy Libris about her son's death. Daredevil crashes in Foggy's office as Kristen McDuffie arrives. [Daredevil, NYPD officers, Kingpin, Foggy Nelson, Robert "Goldy" Goldman, Judge Ann Klover, Ben Hochberg, Wesley Welch, Iron Man, Typhoid Mary, Izzy Libris, Kristen McDuffie]
DD 23 (1:4 - 3): Kristen talks about the trial, Daredevil advises they continue tomorrow, and Foggy mentions the trial in eight days. [Kristen McDuffie and Daredevil in main story and recap, Foggy Nelson]

DD 23 (4 - 7): After leaving the office at what looks like sunset, Daredevil meets up with Elektra, who wants him to lead the Fist, but he leaves. Foggy talks about the trial with Kristen. [Daredevil, Elektra, Foggy Nelson, Kristen McDuffie]

Day 4
DD 23 (8 - 17): Mayor Fisk meets up with other criminal mob bosses, such as Hammerhead and Izzy Libris. When Hammerhead criticises Fisk, he slams his head on the table and appoints Izzy as the new Kingpin of NYC. Daredevil crashes the meeting and threatens them that even when he is watching from prison, he'll make their lives hell. He shows them that it's not just him, but also Spider-Man. After that, Spider-Man explains why he has been treating Daredevil recently is because he also accidentally killed someone, Charlemagne, walked it off, and got mad with the news that Daredevil is a “murderer.” Daredevil hugs Spider-Man. [Kingpin, Hammerhead, Izzy Libris, other mob bosses, Spider-Man]

Day 5
DD 23 (18 - 20): Spider-Man and Daredevil talk for hours until sunrise, about the city they both love, the city they both try their best to help. When he arrives at Foggy Nelson's office, he finds “Matt Murdock”. [Daredevil, Spider-Man, Kristen McDuffie, Mike Murdock/"Matt Murdock", Foggy Nelson]
DD 24 (1 - 5): Daredevil confronts Foggy about making his brother Mike impersonate Matt Murdock. He leaves, as Fisk showers. Fisk is interrupted by Typhoid Mary, who proposes herself as his bodyguard. At home, Daredevil talks with Tony Stark to bid. [Daredevil, Foggy Nelson, Kingpin, Typhoid Mary, Iron Man]

Day 6
DD 24 (6 - 12): “Matt Murdock” meets up with Robert “Goldy” Goldman, and later Kristen McDuffie. Daredevil confronts Mike, who thinks the real Matt is in rehab and “dead.” Daredevil calls Tony Stark, who was outbid by the Stromwyns. [Mike Murdock/"Matt Murdock", Robert "Goldy" Goldman, Kristen McDuffie, Daredevil, Iron Man]

Day 7 (~ five days later)
DD 24 (13 - 20): On the day of the trial, Steve Rogers, Luke Cage, Reed Richards, Jessica Jones, Peter Parker, Mayor Fisk, and Typhoid Mary attend. After Elektra signals a message to him revealing she knows his identity, Daredevil pleads guilty to second-degree manslaughter. [Daredevil, Kristen McDuffie, Elektra, Captain America, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Spider-Man, Mister Fantastic, Mayor Fisk, Typhoid Mary, Mike Murdock/"Matt Murdock", Foggy Nelson, Judge Ann Klover]
DD 25 (6:1) [Foggy Nelson, Daredevil BTS]
DD 25 (6:3) [Kristen McDuffie, Daredevil BTS]

I've just now read GotG 10, and when Rocket mentions "that new S.W.O.R.D. station" he also says that Knull is "on Earth" and "He's got the whole planet sealed off", so surely this issue is right in the middle of the actual KiB event?

And some thoughts on other things I've read from this period...

Avengers 39 is all (ancient) flashback.

Avengers 40: Time has passed since #39, though maybe not that much? There are now Wakandan helicarriers at the Phoenix volcano nest.
Avengers 41-44: All one story with no obvious breaks. Luke Cage learns about the Starbrand baby here, so shouldn't have any appearances with Iron Fist since the baby came to be with the Avengers. Dr. Doom fights in the Phoenix tournament, but I don't know where that fits in his timeline.
Issue 44 has Jean Grey on the moon, sending a psychic message to Echo.
The 'next' issue, 45, is advertised as a King In Black issue but actually happens the day after it ends (and Echo is still being monitored for the effects of #44, suggesting that's not too long before KiB).

Immortal Hulk 34 is all Leader flashbacks.
35-41 all seem quite continuous, getting near King In Black.
42 is the same time as the Immortal Hulk: King In Black one-shot, which is Christmas Eve.

Taskmaster 1-5 feature Black Widow, I imagine before she disappears in her next solo volume, but nothing definite. Don't know if this is before or after Tasky appears in Dr. Doom, where he's badly injured.
One of the issues places the story after Amazing Spider-Man 50.
There's a break of weeks between issues 3 and 4, and 4 happens over nearly a week.

The problem is that something has to give--KiB all happens very quickly (about a day and a half), and the X-books are all very tightly knit together, so there's only a week between KiB and The Last Annihilation. So either Rocket's mistaken (but prescient!) about what's going on in GotG6 10, or the "three months" before the last two pages of GotG6 12 are really just a couple of days (or I suppose we could resort to some kind of "time passes differently in different parts of the galaxy" handwaving), or we have to declare that Planet-Size X-Men is wrong about the timetable of Arakko *and* open up three-month gaps in ten different X-titles. Since the GotG scene relies on hearsay, and it's one title rather than a bunch of them, that's the one I think we should interpret squintingly.

(As it is, the GotG6 12 gap sits a little bit after Empyre, since GotG6 8 takes place just after Empyre--and the one post-Empyre, pre-Last Annihilation place in the X-titles' chronology with potential months' worth of breathing room is between X5 11 and X-Factor 1-3.)
