Conan: Return of Styrm #1-3

CONAN: RETURN OF STYRM #1 (September 1998)

SYNOPSIS:
In Valdover, Mecora sends her astral form to Conan. She tells him that earlier tonight he killed or maimed the city’s defenders, that a dragon will be arriving at the city in a few days and now they’re defenseless. She asks Conan to defend the city. He refuses. She has her Kofi-An assassins capture him. When he wakes up she makes a better offer, but instead he kills her assassins. When he moves to attack her she magically stops him, more assassins arrive with bows and arrows, and she makes an even better offer. Conan finally agrees.

CONAN: RETURN OF STYRM #2 (October 1998)

FLASHBACK:
Fifty years ago, a dragon is hatched in a mountain near Valdover. Mecora leads a hunting party to kill the young beast. They capture it, chop off its wings and send it over a waterfall. Days ago in northern Argos, Conan returns Tatjai to her father King Tiboer. The king tells Conan that Tatjai’s mother died of heartache and he spent all his money on her funeral. Conan kills the king, makes Tatjai the queen and tells her she has two years to get her kingdom in order and his reward money prepared. Conan travels to the nearby Valdover for some rest. He gets into a barfight, killing and maiming some hired warriors.
SYNOPSIS:
Conan wonders how he got into this mess.

CONAN: RETURN OF STYRM #3 (November 1998)

SYNOPSIS:
Styrm arrives at Valdover. Conan fights him but the dragon easily swats him aside. Styrm rampages through Valdover on his way to Mecora’s mountain cave. Conan follows and finds Styrm fighting Mecora. Conan tosses Styrm out a window and asks for his reward. Mecora attacks Conan. Styrm returns, flying without his wings. Conan watches as Styrm kills Mecora; when she’s taken out of her cave she turns to dust. Styrm thanks Conan for showing him he could fly without his wings and kicks Conan out of the mountain cave. The people of Valdover thanks Conan and Styrm gets settled in his old cave.

NOTE:
Conan’s in a mercenary phase here, is young, brash and reckless, and starts the story in northern Argos. He’s taking odd jobs in the Argos and surrounding areas in M/GN:COBSOS, SAVSCO 66, etc. That looks like a good spot for this.
