This chronology has been extensively revised to bring it into line with MCP's individual character chronologies, while matching internal dates where possible. Further revisions may well occur over time.

I've changed this part of the chronology to "Birth of Franklin Richards to Birth of the Defenders," as i've added in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes vol. 2 1-8, which overlaps with Avengers 59 & 60, making Franklin's birth an easier break point.

I am working on the next part of the Hulk chronology and I have some questions on your chronology.

Why is Hulk 105 broken in two in the middle of the fight with the Missing Link?

Why do you break Hulk 106 between pages 4 & 5? (rather than 5 & 6 for example) I think that does not work for Rick Jones. I have never been able to work out a good break where to place CA 110 either, I am just asking for your rationale if you have one.

You have Hulk 139 twice.

What prompted the breaking up of Hulk 140? Just the time he spends in the microverse or a specific chronology issue? If it's time spent,
there are breaks of several days both in Hulk 123 and 124 and probably between those two issues.

Why are Hulk 130-138 following closely? It involves travel by boat from the West Coast to Central Europe via Panama and the Atlantic, then travel offworld.

I hope they're easy ones. :D

Yes, well, i took that from the individual character chronologies, since i didn't have the time back then to examine every issue in depth. This is where Hulk lists his appearance in SS 4. We had a bit of a discussion on this a few months back.. http://www.chronologyproject.com/phpbb2 ... =2&t=15820

I might deal with this in more depth over in that topic.

What happened to the easy questions? :(

That might have been a mistake on the page numbers. CA 110 is a real thorny issue. I've gone right thru IH2 104-108 & CA 110 in depth to try to find a better solution to this one. The best i've been able to come up with is this..

Incredible Hulk 104-105
Incredible Hulk 106 (1 - 7)

What if we put CA 110 (1 - 8) in here, after the Missing Link buries Hulk in rubble. It may take him a little time to smash his way out, and that could be what we're seeing in CA 110 (2). After battling Cap and roughing up Rick, Hulk leaps away on page 8. Remembering the Missing Link, Hulk returns to the battle with him IH2 106 (8) and his leap away from Cap carries him back to the building where he was fighting the Missing Link.

Captain America 110 (1 - 8) ~ Savage Hulk 1 (4 - 13)
Incredible Hulk 106 (8 - 20)
Incredible Hulk 107
Incredible Hulk 108 (1 - 6:2)

We need to insert a break here to allow Nick Fury to play catch-up, and for Hulk to go off on his mission for Mandarin. Rick wakes up and has an adventure with Cap in CA 110 (9 - 20).

Captain America 110 (9 - 13)
Captain America Reborn 4 (6 - 8)
Captain America 110 (14 - 20)

We return to the Hulk..

Incredible Hulk 108 (6:3 - 20)

How's that look?
Leoparis wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2020 7:18 pmYou have Hulk 139 twice.
Yes, well.. i'll fix that up. I believe the correct position is before A 88. Thanks!

That's all i have time for right now, so i'll get back to these questions a little later. :outtahere:

We were working on it at the same time. This is what I wrote in my draft an hour ago. Notice how I also used "thorny"
The break in Hulk 106
That break in Hulk 106 has been one of the most thorny problems I have had to contend with. On page 9 the Hulk is captured by SHIELD and from there ensue a string of adventures abroad where the Hulk never returns to New York and by Hulk 115, Cap 111 and therefore Cap 110 have already happened. On panel 6 of page 5, the police (and army?) pull out for a SHIELD intervention. So CA 110 has to occur before that. Pages 4, 5 and panels 1-2 of page 6 are tied by the rescue of Betty. Panel 3 refers to the previous panel. So that leaves only two possible places to place CA 110: between panels 3 & 4 or between 4 & 5. The best of the two is the first one. When Hulk sees the helicopter he decides first to pursue it on the ground (he cannot leap due to a leg injury and clearly Rick did not board the helicopter), then gets cornered in a deadend at the beginning of CA 110 (he still cannot leap and so has to break the wall), he is somewhat furious at Rick. By the end of Cap 110 the Hulk's leg has partly healed and he can manage a leap. The retelling of Cap 110 in Savage Hulk (1996) mentions his wounds when he makes that leap. His leap must bring him next to the Missing Link and the Hulk takes out his frustration and pain on him (panels 4 & 5 page 6). By page 8 of Hulk 106 the Hulk's leg has still not fully healed as he makes a limited leap.

IH2 106 (1 - 6:3)
SAVH (5)-FB )
CA 110
SAVH (13)-FB
IH2 106 (6:4 - 20)
But your solution flows really well visually (less so if we read the dialogue and did the Missing Link stay up there all that time? I guess so) and I might be convinced this is the very spot Steranko intended.
I really like what you did because: 1) it falls neatly between pages, and 2) the leap at the end of CA 110/Savage Hulk can be the same we see on page 8 panel 1 of H 106.
Local authorities pulling out for a SHIELD intervention is not a problem nor is the absence of Cap and soldiers in IH 106. For the former, maybe the soldiers in CA 110 were with SHIELD rather than regular army. Or maybe the order to pull out was first given to police and a bit later to the army. For the latter, Cap pulls Rick to safety and the soldiers retreat due to the building threatening to collapse (Cap 110 page 8 and H 106 page 7). Or they've just now received the order to pull away a few minutes after the police received theirs (H 106 panel 6 page 5).

Considering all the adventures Hulk has from 106 to 115 (which references Cap 111) it seems Rick Jones trained a long time before CA 111 happened...

I really like what you did because: 1) it falls neatly between pages; and 2) the leap at the end of CA 110/Savage Hulk can be the same we see on page 8 panel 1 of H 106.
Local authorities pulling out for a SHIELD intervention is not a problem nor is the presence of Cap and soldiers. For the former, maybe the soldiers in CA 110 were with SHIELD rather than regular army. Or maybe the order to pull out was first given to police and a bit later to the army. Or they just received the order to pull away. For the latter, Cap pulls Rick to safety and the soldiers retreat due to the building threatening to collapse (Cap 110 page 8 and H 106 page 7).
Looks like we're thinking pretty much along similar lines. I considered a number of possibilities, but nothing really worked so far as narrative goes, so as you noticed, i ended up opting for visuals.

It's not set in concrete, however. I'm open to other interpretations, but it's the best i've been able to come up with, and i think it works better than what we have currently.

After another reading of Hulk 140-141, i concede there doesn't need to be a split in IH2 140. However, there are two "one week" gaps during IH2 141 which i may apply to the chronology.
Leoparis wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2020 7:18 pmWhy are Hulk 130-138 following closely? It involves travel by boat from the West Coast to Central Europe via Panama and the Atlantic, then travel offworld.
Okay, this is another section i haven't had time to give more than a cursory examination. If you would like to suggest breaks and where to place them, i'll be guided by you and slot them into the chronology accordingly.

Where is Angel's 3-parter where his father is killed by his uncle?

It happens in Ka-Zar 2 & 3 and Marvel Tales 30

I think this story is referred to in X-Men Hidden Years.

Supermegamonkey places this arc between X-Men 48 & 49:

So does the MCP. :)

I've added them in, but in the Arrival of Captain Marvel to Birth of Franklin Richards chronology.

I've also brought Marvel Feature 1 up to just before the Kree-Skrull War. However, this area has recently been under discussion on the boards, and may be subject to change.

Quick question about this section:

Avengers 78-79
Adventure into Fear 10/2
Punisher: Year One 2

Adventure into Fear 10/2 is a reprint. Is this meant to be the first story, the Man-Thing story? If so, what was behind the decision to put it here? Or is there another Adventure into Fear series? Or is this meant to signify that Man-Thing's origin occurs here, as seen in AIF 10, Savage Tales 1/3, etc.?

Are you sure about that?

AIF 10/2 shouldn't be a reprint (or at least, I can't find any reference to a previous printing), but is an horror short story without connection with the rest of Marvel Universe, like many other reprints in the series, and it isn't listed in MCP.

I don't see any reason not to include it. There doesn't seem to be anything about the story that precludes it from being set in the MU. As for placement, as it seems to be an inventory story, i've placed it among other stories with similar job numbers.
