The Amazing Spider-Man (1982)
By ?

APPEARANCES:
Spider-Man (also in flashback), guards, Sam, J. Jonah Jameson (also in flashback), reporters, scientists, Doctor Octopus, Dr. Allan, Doc Ock’s thugs

SYNOPSIS:
FLASHBACK:
J. Jonah Jameson sends Pete (by bus) to Cape Canaveral to photograph the launch into space of the most advanced weather satellite in the world.
PRESENT:
The next day, Pete arrives in Florida and web-swings his way through the trees to the launching facility. Changing out of his Spidey duds, he enters the press room filled with reporters and scientists. His spider sense begins to tingle and he notices Doctor Octopus among the scientists. Suddenly Doc Ock grabs his jaw in pain and runs out of the room. Peter follows him all the way to the Cape Canaveral dentist’s office. There the dentist discovers that Ock hasn’t been taking care of his teeth and has a cavity. After getting a filling, Ock goes (with Spidey following) to his crew where it is revealed that he plans to tap into the communication frequencies from the satellite. Since it is so sensitive, he can covertly use it to track the shipment of gold anywhere on Earth. Spidey listens in, then captures the crew. Knowing that Ock’s teeth must be sensitive, since he just got a filling and they’re in bad shape anyway, Spidey gives him a strong punch to the jaw which knocks him out. Ock is taken to prison, where he can receive further dental care, and Peter returns to New York and sells his pics of the fight to Jonah.

NOTE:
I didn’t notice anything helpful in nailing down when this story has to take place, so there should be some wide latitude in fighting where to put it. Again, suggestions are welcome.

According to the indicia, this comic is unhelpfully titled “The Amazing Spider-Man.” I doubt MCP would want to renumber all the ASM series to label this as volume 2, so I’m not sure what to call it.
