SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #223 (July 1994)

SYNOPSIS:
In the Stygian wastelands, Conan is suddenly thrown from his horse; he realizes the horse has been shot with an arrow. Conan kills the Stygian that shot his horse then sets out looking for water in the desert. Eventually he hears drums, drawing him in a certain direction. He finds water and a walled city. He watches as several people come out to farm, but they’re scared back into the city when a stampede of thunder-beasts rumbles by. Stygians arrive and scare off the beasts with arrows, then start yelling at the city. A cloud-like liquid comes out of the city and kills the Stygians. The bodies are dragged inside with ropes of gold, then the farmers return. Conan takes a nap and is awoken by a girl who wants him to kill the wizard who conquered her tribe. Conan offers to sneak her out instead. She sneaks him into the city at night but she’s captured and set to be sacrificed to the Feeders from the Sky. A flying grotesque monstrosity arrives and Conan fights it. Two others arrive and eat the injured beast. The wizard confronts Conan, but Conan kills him. Conan escapes as the city collapses, but the girl doesn’t.

SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #224 (August 1994)

Conan, Corinthians (inc Lady Radia, Bojj (Jonar’s drunk brother, also in fb) & his thugs (inc Demeris), Jonar (corpse, also bts in fb)), dwellers under the tombs

FLASHBACK:
Bojj runs screaming out of Jonar’s house (before main story). As Bojj is preparing to sleep he sees his dead brother’s face in the window (during main story). Jonar plots in his secret room and explores the tunnels beneath the tomb. He opens a put severl stories down, but rushes off to scare his brother to lure him into the tomb to kill him and replace him (during main story).
SYNOPSIS:
In the Corinthian countryside, Conan stumbles across a funeral. The dead guy’s drunk brother shows up and makes a ruckus, but Conan only jumps in when they start roughing up a lady. The funeral is finished, Conan learns about the village’s history and joins the lady for dinner. They flirt and have some fun, and Conan stays with her for a while (for like, weeks). As Conan’s itch to wandergrows, the drunk bursts into Radia’s house, screaming that his dead brother has returned to kill him. They take him to Jonar’s tomb; Bojj enters, runs out screaming then dies. Conan and Raida find the tomb empty, then find tunnels and a secret room with Jonar’s journal. Conan hears a noise and they spot shadowy creatures coming out of the tunnels. They scramble to get away and lock them in the tomb.
