SYNOPSIS:
An outpost in Argos is besieged by Black Naccaros and his corsairs. Gen. Marcos Gabriello, the outpost commander and Conan’s friend, is running out of supplies when Conan arrives. Conan agrees to help against the pirates. During a fight Marcos’ son is killed, but Black Naccaros ties him to a pole and says he’s a hostage. Gabriello gives Black Naccaros everything he wants and is outraged to discover his son is already dead. They ready a ship and chase after the pirates. The pirates enter a fog bank and begin screaming. Conan and friends enter the fog, hear singing and find dozens of ancient, empty ships. A tentacle grabs their oars and a naked woman, Viridiana, greets them. They’re attacked by her pets, Gabreillo is knocked overboard and the creatures retreat. That night Gabriello returns, tells Conan the “pets” used to be men, transformed by their master, before attacking Conan. They fight off a sea creature and Gabriello, now with tentacles for arms, leaves. When the sun rises Viridiana starts singing again, lulling the crew while the creatures capture them. Viridiana seduces Conan and pulls him underwater. He’s able to get his sword and kill her. When he surfaces he notices all the sea creatures are as dead as Viridiana. Conan loads as many goods as he can on to a rowboat and leaves.
I liked this one. Good stuff.

NOTE:
This one’s not in Roy’s chronology, and is again a poem telling a story with splash-page illustrations. This one, unlike the others, have editorial footnotes pointing to the long in his past COB 92, and the recent SAVSCO 15. And yep, Octavia appears there too. Also, Conan says he plans to attack the Wearers of the Owl, but I’m not sure if we ever see that. If we do, it would happen after this, obviously.

By Michael Fleisher & Rudy Nebres
APPEARANCES:
Conan, Snow Raven, Capt. Bor’aqh Sharaq, Argosseans (inc Lady Mellicynth, Count Veredici, Silvia, kidnappers, a priest), Argossean guards (inc Stavro, Mino), Kraken Inn staff & patrons (inc Marcello), provincial governor & his guards (inc Gabriello), G’bharr Rjinn (in fb), Elder Gods (bts in fb)

Sharaq breaks into a provincial governor’s home and finds the Eye of G’bharr Rjinn and meets Snow Raven, who is also there to rob the place. Mellicynth’s father shows Conan the neat-o Eye of G’bharr Rjinn that he has and tells Conan a story about it. Snow Raven agrees to help Sharaq kill Conan. Conan and Mellicynth fool around. Sharaq and Snow Raven break into Mellicynth’s house looking for the other Eye and they end up fighting Conan. After a tussle they escape with both Eyes. Later, Snow Raven returns and she fools around with Conan; Mellicynth overhears and is jealous. Conan knocks the Eyes away from Sharaq and both Conan and Snow Raven recover. Conan freezes Sharaq and Conan and Snow Raven go their separate ways, each with an Eye.
2nd Story:
By Alan Rowlands & Tony Salmons
APPEARANCES:
Conan, Bêlit & her Black Corsairs (inc M’Gora, Tabak, Laboto), priest of Ishtar & his crew (inc Olgo)
SYNOPSIS:
Conan and the Black Corsairs attack a ship; on it is a priest of Ishtar. Conan battles the large Olgo, and when it’s obvious Conan will win he jumps overboard with the chest that’s chained to him. Conan dives in after him, chops off the guy’s hand and reboards. He opens it and is surprised that its empty. Bêlit tells him it’s an old diversion tactic and the real treasure was still in the ship’s hold. Disgusted that someone would kill themselves over a lie, Conan chains the chest to the priest and tosses him overboard.
NOTE:
Another one not in Roy’s chronology. Obviously, since Bêlit appears, we’re sometime during COB 58-100. Conan seems pretty new to pirating, and Bêlit is still learning some of Conan’s tricks, so this should probably go early in their time together.
SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #108 (January 1985)
By Michael Fleisher & Gary Kwapisz
APPEARANCES:
Conan, Count Nerval & his army, Baron Gorbek, his wife & his barony (inc Pol Tiurno, Thanos Kulba), Gnalpest residents (inc Marta, Hernand), Bhutar Sken (potential gladiator), farmers, Devourer of Souls (corpse) & his demon horde

Nerval suggests Conan sneak into Gorbek’s barony as a gladiator. Pol wakes up, still alive. The demon horde finds the Jewel of Ganjammide. Pol constructs a new flying device from the corpse of an osprey. Posing as Bhutar Sken, Conan becomes a gladiator. That night Conan discovers Gorbek as a fleet of flying machines and then fools around with Gorbek’s wife. Pol returns to the barony as Conan returns to Nerval to warn him about the fliers. Pol retuns for revenge on Conan, but Conan sets him on fire. Gorbek arrives with his army and a battle ensues. Meanwhile, the demon horde assembles around the Devourer of Souls’ corpse.
2nd Story:

SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #109 (February 1985)
By Michael Fleisher & Gary Kwapisz
APPEARANCES:
Conan, Devourer of Souls & his demon horde, Shatterer of Worlds, Nemedian academy (inc Nicos Iristides (also in fb)), Belverus residents (inc Rhea) & guards (inc Zorbeq), Purple Tigress employees (inc Sabrina, Melanie), mercenaries (inc Paolo, Grote), Lord Kyros Aphenakos & his warriors, Elena, Mikel & his warriors, Elena’s father (mentioned)
FLASHBACK:
Nicos Iristides learns about Conan’s recent encounter with the Devourer of Souls. Recap of SAVSCO 96.
SYNOPSIS:
The demon horde begins the process to revive the Devourer of Worlds. Meanwhile at the Nemedian Academy, Nicos Iristides chronicles Conan’s adventures. He learns of the demon horde’s plot to resurrect the Devourer, but no one believes him. He goes searching for Conan, following lead and clues. Meanwhile, Conan stops a wedding between Lord Kyros Aphenakos and Elena, at the request of her lover Mikel. They retire to an inn for some… recreational activities before returning Elena to Mikel. That night, Nicos recognizes Conan’s voice through the inn’s walls and gets his attention. Conan doesn’t believe Nicos’ story, so Nicos steals the Jewel of Ganjammide on his own. A Belverus spy following Nicos lets his superiors know where Conan is. Nicos returns to Conan, but the demon horde abducts Elena for their spell. Mikel learns of Elena’s infidelity and charges toward Conan. The demon horde begin their spell as everyone converges on Conan. The various factions are defeated and Conan continues to the demon horde; he interrupts the spell but the Devourer is still resurrected. However, Wrarrl knows the spell wasn’t administered correctly and gives Conan his sword; the Shatterer of Worlds is coming! Conan smashes the Jewel as Wrarrl confronts the Shatterer, saving this dimension from destruction.
NOTE:
It’s heavily implied here that Nicos Iristides is the person who wrote the Nemedian Chronicles. You know, “Know, O prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an Age Undreamed Of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars… Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet.” That one.

SYNOPSIS:
Conan’s brigands turn on him when they realize he still has food (they dumped theirs to carry more plunder). When one stabs Conan’s horse, it runs off and causes an avalanche and only Conan survives. Now cold and hungry, Conan slows down and begins to sleep. He’s awoken by Crom, who says it’s not yet time for Conan to die. Conan starts moving again and runs into an army of the dead, the Soldiers of Shadow. They make no noise, but answer when asked; they’re marching for the City of Life for their final battle. When the City of Life refuses to let the Soldiers of Shadow in a battle erupts. Conan is injured and when the sun rises the dead retreat. Conan wakes up and the king tells Conan his story. Turns out this Snow Raven is a different character. Easily fixed!
We don’t actually see Sennan training Conan, it’s only explained in dialogue, so no flashback for him. Easily fixed! For what it's worth, Roy has the training happening between COB 29-30 in his chronology.
