Chronological clues
#1
The Beast Within Them by Duggan & Kubert
During BWS' Weapon X
I Shall Be a Wolf by Rosenberg & Cassara
Wolverine in 1980s brown costume
Nick Fury
Hydra
phone box
X-Mas shopping in Budapest
Cabin Fever by Declan Shalvey
Wolverine in X-jacket (Morrison era?)
#2
Unfinished Business by Ayala & Land
yellow & blue costume
sent by Charles Xavier to Oregon to investigate a researcher's claim to "safely eliminate the x-gene"
Sabretooth sent by ? (Mr Sinister would be my guess)
Seeing Red by Ahmed & Walker
brown costume
Arcade
Do We Die Today by Claremont & Larocca
as Patch in Madripoor
Kate Pryde as Cat
Tyger Tiger
#3
32 Warriors & a Broken Heart by Ridley & Fornes
brown costume
Silver Samurai
Mariko Yashida (before Wolverine 57)
Amiko Kobayashi
Burn by Cates & Bachalo
"A few years back"
yellow & blue costume
Gambit is mentioned
Juggernaut
time-traveling Cosmic Ghost Rider
Red Planet Blues by MacKay & Saiz
"in my old X-Force gray-and-blacks"
Magik
mentions the origin bombs (from Hickman's Avengers)
The reliance on Magik for teleportation & the comment for mutants to have a place of their own means this is pre-Krakoa and possibly pre-Utopia.
#4
The Art of Loss by Thompson & Randolph
Japan
"Editor's Note: This story takes place shortly after Uncanny X-Men #173"
Wolverine
Storm
Mystique
Reave What You Sow by Brisson & Kirk
Outback
"This story takes place after Uncanny X-Men #229"
Wolverine
Reavers
Sticks and Stones by DeKnight & Siqueira
Savage Land
Wolverine in yellow & blue costume
Sauron
Garokk
So either after he resumes wearing his blue and yellow costume in 1990 or before X 139.
Wolverine mentions a vacation, he's very familiar with Sauron so after X 113-116 and possibly after Marvel Fanfare 3-4 (but by then he had his brown costume). Garokk's appearance in UX 149 refers to X 116 and makes it difficult (not impossible) to insert this story. There is a break in X 129 where could be placed the Wolverine vacationing in Australia story in the 75th Anniversary special. The vacation could extend from Australia into the Savage Land.
I'm not familiar enough with the post 1990 chronology of Wolverine, Sauron and Garokk to make a proposal for this later period.
