The next morning she’s aged another five years and later that day they arrive at Surhon. An old man recognizes the girl’s necklace and takes Conan and her to the spot where he found one just like it. Conan falls into a cavern and realizes he’s found a buried ancient pirate ship. In the captain’s chambers they find a tusked human skeleton and the ship’s log. The girl becomes excited when she hears of “Zahrahn.” Conan decides he needs to get her to her native land before she turns into a beast, thinking she’ll stop aging if they make it in time. They almost make it but are attacked by Picts; the delay causes her to turn into a hairy beast and she slaughters the Picts. She attacks Conan but dies when she falls off a cliff.
