Thors #1-4

Post by Col_Fury »

THORS #1 (August 2015)
By Jason Aaron & Chris Sprouse

APPEARANCES:
Ultimate Thor, Beta Ray Thor, Thor/Groot, Rune Thor, Destroyer Thor, Green Thor (Thorus of Egyptia), Stormborn (Ororo Munroe), Old Thor (lawgiver), Throg (Frog Thor), Unworthy Thor, various other Thors
Loki
various Jane Fosters (corpses)
various Ghost Riders

SYNOPSIS:
Another months-old corpse has been found; the fifth in a week. Ultimate Thor and Beta Ray Thor need to solve the case fast! To work out their aggressions they arrest some random Ghost Riders. Later at HQ, the Thors still don’t know who the bodies are, but they have figured out that they’re all the same woman from different Domains. They’re dealing with a serial killer who only kills one woman. Beta Ray Thor talks with his informant (a homeless Loki) and is attacked. Ultimate Thor arrives, and as Beta Ray Thor dies he reveals who the women are: JANE FOSTER.

NOTE:
The various Jane Fosters are all from different Domains, but they were killed long ago and then moved; it’s impossible to tell where each one came from.

The Ghost Riders were arrested in Weirdworld, but as that series establishes, no one is from Weirdworld; people travel there. These Ghost Riders are all naked, so there’s no way to tell who they are or where they’re from.

Ultimate Thor and Unworthy Thor both seem to be from the Manhattan Domain. Stormborn seems to be from House of M. Green Thor is specifically from Egyptia. Old Thor may be the same version of future Thor seen in Thor: God of Thunder #1-25. Throg MIGHT be a previously seen version, or is just a new variation (this one is a forensic scientist, so probably a new version).

THORS #2 (September 2015)
By Jason Aaron, Chris Sprouse & Goran Sudzuka

APPEARANCES:
Beta Ray Thor (corpse), Old Thor, Ultimate Thor, Thor/Groot, Thor (Tarene?), Green Thor, Stormborn, Thunderstrike, Destroyer Thor, Rune Thor, Unworthy Thor, Throg, Thrr, various other Thors, Loki
a Donald Blake (corpse)
Greenland: various Hulks
various Morbius’
various zombies

SYNOPSIS:
The Thors hold a funeral for Beta Ray Thor, then go take out their aggressions on the usual suspects of troublemakers. Ultimate Thor goes to a hospital one of the Janes worked at (in Egyptia) where he’s approached by the Unworthy Thor; he tells Ultimate Thor to drop the case and forget about Jane Foster. They fight until Ultimate Thor is called away. A new body has been found, but this one is a Don Blake. Ultimate Thor finds someone sneaking around and arrests him: LOKI.

NOTE:
Again, this Donald Blake was killed a long time ago and moved from where he was. There’s no way to tell where he came from.

We don’t see the Jane Foster from Egyptia, and she wasn’t one of the murdered Jane Fosters; this one died from cancer.

THORS #3 (November 2015)
By Jason Aaron, Chris Sprouse & Goran Sudzuka

APPEARANCES:
Loki, Ultimate Thor, Rune Thor, Destroyer Thor, Thrr, Throg, Thor/Groot, Stormborn, Green Thor, Unworthy Thor
various Jane Fosters (corpses)
various zombies

SYNOPSIS:
Ultimate Thor interrogates Loki, who wants him to get the point without having to walk him through it. Frustrated, Loki eventually gives Ultimate Thor a clue; he flies to the Deadlands and finds a mass grave filled with hundreds of Jane Foster corpses. Ultimate Thor is attacked by Rune Thor, who reveals himself as the serial killer. Ultimate Thor is knocked out and left to be eaten by the zombies, but he revived and saved by the UNWORTHY THOR.

THORS #4 (January 2016)
By Jason Aaron & Chris Sprouse

APPEARANCES:
Ultimate Thor (also in fb), Unworthy Thor (also in fb), Rune Thor, Destroyer Thor, Loki, Green Thor, Stormborn, Thrr, Throg, Thor/Groot, Thunderstrike, Old Thor, various other Thors
Apocalypse, Holocaust
Thor/Jane Foster (616)

FLASHBACK:
The Unworthy Thor explains to Ultimate Thor that he was deemed unworthy because he was investigating the Jane Foster murders and was punished for it.
SYNOPSIS:
Rune Thor prepares to kill Loki and stage it as a suicide, but he’s stopped by the Ultimate and Unworthy Thors. They all fights (as does Rune Thor’s partner Destroyer Thor); when they fall through a wall they see a new Thor giving a speech to the rest of the Thors to attack Doom. Ultimate Thor is the first to side with her; some others do and some don’t, and a fight breaks out. The new Thor calms everyone down and they leave to attack Doom. As they fly to Doom, Ultimate Thor tells the new Thor he knows she’s a Jane Foster. Then, they join the battle. Later, Ultimate Thor’s hammer lands in Asgard, 616.

NOTE:
Rune Thor was killing Jane Fosters (and later Donald Blakes) because he had figured out Battleworld was a patchwork reality when he saw one (she reminded him of home), and was concerned that seeing Jane Fosters or Don Blakes would remind certain Thors of the worlds they came from as well (also, when he admitted he was doing it for personal reasons, he became unworthy). To be fair, it turns out he was right.

This confirms that any “regular” Thor is from a different reality originally. That means, say, Rune Thor, Ultimate Thor, Destroyer Thor, Old Thor, etc. are all from different realities from one another (they can’t be from the same Domain since they’re all versions of the same guy). Thor/Groot and Thor/Gamora COULD be from the same reality/Domain, though, since they’re not “regular” Thors. The Fantastic Thors (seen in SIEGE2), for example, are likely from the same reality/Domain, and that’s fine.

Jane Foster’s (616) speech is expanded on in SECWARS 7, as is the Thors leaving Doomgard and fighting Apocalypse. Here’s how the two comics fit together:

TS 4-FB
Ultimate Thor, Unworthy Thor
TS 4 (1-13)
Ultimate Thor, Unworthy Thor (leaves fight), Rune Thor (defeated, leaves fight), Destroyer Thor (leaves fight), Green Thor, Stormborn, Thrr, Throg, Thor/Groot, various other Thors, Thor/Jane Foster
SECWARS 7 (9)
Thor/Jane Foster, various other Thors
TS 4 (14:1-14:3)
Thor/Jane Foster, Ultimate Thor, Thunderstrike, Old Thor, various other Thors
SECWARS 7 (10:1-10:3)
Thor/Jane Foster, various other Thors
TS 4 (14:4)
Thor/Jane Foster
SECWARS 7 (10:4-10:5)
Thor/Jane Foster, various other Thors
TS 4 (14:5-18)
Thor/Jane Foster, Ultimate Thor, Green Thor, Unworthy Thor (back from fight), Rune Thor (back from fight), Destroyer Thor (back from fight), Thor/Groot, Thunderstrike, Stormborn, various other Thors, Apocalypse, Holocaust
SECWARS 7 (11-20)
Thor/Jane Foster, Ultimate Thor, various other Thors, Apocalypse, Holocaust

None of the Thors from TS 4 are pictured on-panel in SECWARS 7, meaning they’re off-panel in SECWARS 7 (except Unworthy Thor, Rune Thor and Destroyer Thor).

I’m going to hold off on chronologies for now. I want to get a list of all the different Thors (aside from the generic ones) and what comics they appear in together first.
