Too bad they couldn't get everything ironed out before Hugh Jackman retired as Wolverine. If it does happen, though, I hope they continue to make (R rated) Deadpool movies.

The word on the street is that Fox wants to finalize a deal by the end of the year (the timeline isn't mentioned in the link, but the Wall Street Journal (where it is mentioned) is a paid-subscription site so I won't link to that). Meaning, sometime in the next four weeks.
Also, apparently, the hoped-for price is FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS (Of course, they're not just talking about X-Men/Fantastic Four rights, but everything Fox has except for news & sports. That includes their stake in Hulu, Sky, movie studios/real estate holdings, etc. It would be a pretty big consolidation if it goes though).

We're getting closer, folks. It may even be announced next week!
Apparently Comcast/Universal has all but dropped out of the negotiations, and I haven't heard/seen anything recently about Sony/MGM. It really does sound like it might happen.

They're at the numbers-crunching stage. When the accountants get involved, it's all but official.
If this happens, the FF/Human Torch stuff would all be under one roof. We're one step closer to *me* getting a live action Invaders movie! (no one except me is talking about (or probably even hoping for) an Invaders movie; I just really really want to see one. Or three!)

In another bit of news, all other bidders have dropped out, leaving only Disney as the last interested party in Fox's assets.

Pretty exciting. There seems to be some confusion over what happened with the studio lots/real estate, but it ended up going for 52.4 BILLION dollars (valued at 66.1 billion) (also, all in stock, no cash).
I wonder how long before they announce their movie phase four plans? The word on the street is they had two plans, depending on how this deal went through...

Also, There doesn't seem to be a problem in making more R-rated Deadpool movies after the merger. The door's open to other, more mature Marvel movies as well.
