FF@ 23 (part 1) and NM@ 6 (part 3) show what the Fantastic Four and the New Mutants were up to before they converge with X-Factor in XF@ 5 (part 2), then the story wraps up in UX@ 14 (part 4). However, XF@5 is labeled part 2, and NM@ 6 is labeled part 3. But, an editor’s box in XF@ 5 tells you to read NM@ 6 first, and the first page of NM@ 6 is a letter to the reader explaining why NM@ 6 ran behind schedule. So really, NM@ 6 should be part 2 and XF@ 5 should be part 3 (but obviously, they aren’t).
There’s a line of dialogue by the Human Torch on page 11 of XF@ 5 that gets us around the chapter mess. XF@ 5 (1-10) happens, the Human Torch mentions that the Days of Future Past Franklin Richards is probably at the ruins of the X-Mansion by now (which is where he is at the start of NM@ 6, so that’s when NM@ 6 happens), then XF@ 5 (11-41) happens. Yay!
The only affected characters are Ahab and Franklin Richards (both from the Days of Future Past).
